Integration Management — Quick Reference

Integration management is the only knowledge area that is solely the project manager's responsibility. It ties everything together.

Integration Management Processes

1. Develop Project Charter — Formally authorizes the project
2. Develop Project Management Plan — Defines how the project is executed, monitored, and controlled
3. Direct and Manage Project Work — Execute the plan, produce deliverables
4. Manage Project Knowledge — Use existing knowledge, create new knowledge
5. Monitor and Control Project Work — Track, review, and regulate progress
6. Perform Integrated Change Control — Review and manage all change requests
7. Close Project or Phase — Finalize all activities

Project Charter Contents

• Project purpose and justification
• Measurable objectives and success criteria
• High-level requirements and description
• Overall project risk
• Summary milestone schedule and budget
• Key stakeholder list
• Project manager assignment and authority level
• Issued by the sponsor (not the PM)

Change Control Process

1. Change is identified → Document change request
2. Assess impact (scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk)
3. Submit to Change Control Board (CCB)
4. CCB approves, rejects, or defers
5. If approved: update plans, baselines, and documents
6. Communicate the decision

Project Closure Checklist

• Verify all deliverables are accepted
• Complete final financial closure
• Collect and archive lessons learned
• Release resources
• Close all procurements
• Archive project documents
• Confirm benefits handoff to operations
• Obtain formal sign-off from sponsor
